The JEA Journalist of the Year Scholarship awards $4,000 to the top national winner and $1,200 to up to five finalists selected from state-level winners. The program recognizes high school journalists for excellence in reporting, design, photography, and multimedia storytelling. National winners are announced at the Spring JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention.
Open to high school seniors who participate in their state's Journalist of the Year competition administered by the JEA. Eligibility is based on outstanding journalism work produced during the high school years.
Students must first win or place in their state-level Journalist of the Year contest. State winners submit a digital journalism portfolio to the national competition, with the national deadline typically in mid-March.
Most students miss 2659+ scholarships they actually qualify for — don't be one of them.
