Goldberg-Miller Public Finance Scholarship

The Goldberg-Miller Public Finance Scholarship is one of GFOA's most prestigious academic awards, providing $30,000 to support a graduate student dedicated to a career in state or local government finance. It is funded by the Girard Miller Foundation and honors leaders in public financial management. Selection criteria include academic excellence, strength of coursework, and commitment to public service.

Open to full-time graduate students who are preparing for a career in state or local government finance. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to public finance through their course of study and professional aspirations. U.S. and Canadian students may apply.

Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to their commitment to the public sector, official transcripts, and a personal statement about their plans for a career in government finance. The application window opens each November for the following year's awards.
