The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes annually honors 25 outstanding young leaders who have made a significant positive difference to people, their communities, or the planet. Each winner receives $10,000 to support their higher education or their service work. The prize was created by author T.A. Barron in honor of his mother and has recognized over 400 young heroes since 2001.
Open to young people ages 8-18 who are permanent legal residents of the U.S. or Canada. Applicants must be currently residing in the 50 U.S. states, DC, or Canada and hold a Social Security number or valid tax ID.
A two-step application process requires a pre-application by mid-March and a full application by April 15. Applicants must document a significant public-service or environmental project they have led.
