Established in 2004 by Robert L. Peaslee and the AWS Detroit Brazing and Soldering Division, this scholarship supports students pursuing engineering degrees with a focus on brazing applications. One award of at least $2,500 is given annually through the AWS Foundation's national scholarship program. Robert Peaslee was a pioneering figure in the brazing industry and a long-time contributor to AWS.
Open to U.S., Canadian, or Mexican citizens who are at least college juniors pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in engineering with an emphasis on brazing applications at a U.S. or Canadian institution. A minimum 3.0 GPA in engineering courses is required.
Applicants must demonstrate coursework emphasis on brazing applications and list brazing-related courses taken, currently taking, or planning to take. The standard AWS online scholarship application must be submitted with transcripts and letters of recommendation.
