The Bill Mason Memorial Scholarship Fund honors Bill Mason, Canada's legendary canoeist, filmmaker, and environmental advocate. Two scholarships of $3,000 each are awarded annually to Canadian undergraduate students who combine academic achievement with a deep commitment to paddling and outdoor/environmental education. The scholarship encourages the next generation of paddling leaders and stewards of Canada's waterways.
Open to Canadian citizens who are enrolled in or accepted to a Canadian undergraduate program with a B+ (75%) or higher academic standing. Applicants must have a background in paddling (canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard) and demonstrated involvement and leadership in environmental or outdoor education.
Applications are submitted to Paddle Canada by midnight on September 30. Required materials include transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement describing paddling experience, leadership in outdoor or environmental education, and future goals.
