The Jennifer C. Groot Memorial Fellowship provides two awards of $3,000 each to support beginning researchers participating in archaeological fieldwork in Jordan. The fellowship must be used between May 1 of the award year and April 30 of the following year, and applicants are notified in April. It is administered by the American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) in Amman, Jordan.
Open to U.S. or Canadian citizens who are undergraduate or graduate students, with preference for those who graduated within the past 12 months or have been accepted to a graduate program for the fall. Prior recipients and applicants with more than one prior field season are ineligible.
Applicants must have been accepted as team members on an ASOR/CAP-affiliated archaeological project in Jordan. Required materials include a project director's acceptance letter or proof of institutional affiliation, a 2,000-word project proposal narrative, and official transcripts.
