The P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education provides one-time grants of up to $4,000 to women returning to school after an educational interruption. The program is designed to address financial barriers that prevent women from completing their education when life circumstances have caused them to step away. Grants are need-based and the application process begins at the local P.E.O. chapter level.
Open to women in the United States or Canada who are U.S. or Canadian citizens or legal permanent residents and whose education has been interrupted and who need to return to school to support themselves and/or their families. Students already holding a master's degree or above are not eligible.
Applicants must be recommended by a local P.E.O. chapter; the chapter must submit a recommendation no less than eight weeks before the start of the requested term. Selected applicants then have 30 days to complete an online application submitted through the P.E.O. Executive Office.
