The Student Academy Awards, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, recognize outstanding student filmmakers with Gold, Silver, and Bronze grants of $5,000, $3,000, and $2,000 respectively. The awards ceremony is held in the fall and celebrates achievements across narrative, documentary, animated, and alternative film categories. The competition has launched the careers of many prominent filmmakers.
Open to post-secondary students enrolled full-time or part-time in a degree or certificate-granting program at an accredited institution when their film was made. Films must have been completed and submitted for final credit within the past year.
Films must be submitted via FilmFreeway. Entry is free and films must have been made within one year of the student's graduation date.
