National Board Technical Scholarship

The NBBI Technical Scholarship was created to promote engineering and STEM principles in the construction, inspection, and operation of boilers and pressure vessels. Approximately $30,000 is awarded annually, distributed among multiple recipients averaging approximately $7,500 each. The scholarship honors the family legacy of those who have served in the boiler and pressure vessel inspection field.

Open to full-time students enrolled in a trade school, technical college, or university in the U.S. or Canada who are majoring in mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, industrial, welding, or chemical engineering. Applicants must be a child, stepchild, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a current or past National Board member, Commissioned Inspector, or full-time National Board employee with at least one year of service.

Applicants must not have previously received a National Board Technical Scholarship. Applications open September 1 each year and must be submitted or postmarked no later than February 28. Academic transcripts and other supporting materials are required.
