The NBBI Technical Scholarship was created to promote engineering and STEM principles in the construction, inspection, and operation of boilers and pressure vessels. Approximately $30,000 is awarded annually, distributed among multiple recipients averaging approximately $7,500 each. The scholarship honors the family legacy of those who have served in the boiler and pressure vessel inspection field.
Open to full-time students accepted to or currently enrolled in a trade school, technical college, or university in the U.S. or Canada who are majoring in mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, industrial, welding, chemical engineering, or other closely related engineering majors acceptable by the committee. Applicants must be a child, stepchild, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a current or past National Board member, Commissioned Inspector, or full-time National Board employee with at least one year of service. Must be a citizen of the United States or Canada and cannot have previously received the National Board Technical Scholarship.
Applicants must not have previously received a National Board Technical Scholarship. Applications open September 1 each year and must be submitted or postmarked no later than February 28. Academic transcripts and other supporting materials are required.
