About

First place: $2,000; runner-up: $500. Students visit a local Canadian war memorial, describe it, compare its historical context with current meaning, and comment on memorials' role in the 21st century.

Eligibility

Canadian citizens or permanent residents residing in Canada (excluding Quebec), under 21 years old prior to June 30, 2026, who have not attended post-secondary education between September 1, 2025 and August 13, 2026, and will be full-time post-secondary students in the upcoming academic year.

Requirements

Email educator@valourcanada.ca with: (1) one to two paragraph introductory document (.doc or .pdf) explaining motivation for applying, (2) a four to six minute YouTube-compatible video with title page, closing references slide, and no background music. Deadline: June 10, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.
