The Rhodes Scholarship is one of the world's most prestigious graduate fellowship programs, funding two or more years of study at the University of Oxford in any field. It covers full tuition and fees, plus an annual living stipend of approximately £20,000, and economy airfare to and from the UK. Since its founding in 1902, it has supported thousands of leaders across government, academia, business, and public service. The 2027 cohort application deadline is October 1, 2026.
Open to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (for at least five years) who have not yet reached age 24 by October 1 of the application year and who hold or will hold a bachelor's degree before commencing study at Oxford. Selection is based on intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service.
Applicants must submit an application through their university's fellowship office by campus deadlines (typically June-August), which feeds into the national October 1 deadline. Finalists participate in district committee interviews. 32 American scholars are selected each year.
Most students miss 2659+ scholarships they actually qualify for — don't be one of them.
