The Harold Schnitzer Family Scholarship supports undergraduate students majoring in Judaic Studies at Portland State University, awarding up to $7,000 per year for up to four years. The scholarship emphasizes both academic rigor and community engagement in Jewish life and culture. It is part of PSU's Harold Schnitzer Family Program in Judaic Studies, which was endowed by a generous gift from the Schnitzer family.
Open to entering first-year students, transfer students, and current Portland State University undergraduate students pursuing a B.A. in Judaic Studies. Applicants must have and maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Preference will be given to applicants actively engaged in community service and/or volunteering activities who demonstrate leadership potential.
Submit two letters of recommendation (one academic, one from an employer or community organization), and a 500-word personal statement addressing interest in Judaic Studies, academic plans at PSU, and reasons for choosing the Harold Schnitzer Family Program.
