A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to an entering, continuing or transferring Indigenous undergraduate or graduate student from the Huu-ay-aht First Nation. The student must have demonstrated community involvement and must submit a letter of reference (maximum 400 words) outlining their leadership skills in one or more of the following areas: community involvement, leadership, academic performance, athletics, innovation and creativity. Community can include schools, neighbourhoods, teams, and/or Nations. In the event that a member of the Huu-ay-aht First Nation does not apply for the scholarship, it will be awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student from one of the Nuu-chah-nulth nations with connections to the Huu-ay-aht First Nation. Undergraduate students can apply on the online application via their Online tools account and graduate students can submit their reference letter by September 15 to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Office of the Dean. Upon the recommendation of the Executive Director IACE, an undergraduate student recipient will be approved by Senate Committee on Awards, or by the Faculty of Graduate Studies Graduate Awards Committee for a graduate student.
