About

award_type: entrance/continuing. Up to $10,000 annually (automatic top-up). Renewable each year the student holds an eligible qualifying scholarship. Stacks on top of federal/provincial awards. For 2026–27, successful OGS and QEII-GSST recipients will receive PGS in addition to their base award.

Eligibility

Master's or doctoral students at Waterloo holding one of: CGRS-M, CGRS-D (CIHR/NSERC/SSHRC), OGS, QEII-GSST, Vanier CGS, or Canada Impact+ Research Training Award (Doctoral). Domestic and international students eligible.

Requirements

Automatically selected by Faculty/Department for eligible scholarship holders — no separate application. GSPA pays central $5,000 portion; department pays remaining portion (up to $5,000) as scholarship, GRS, TA, or RA.
