award_type: entrance. $1,000–$8,000 per year; held for up to 2 years (master's) or 4 years (PhD). If awarded both GDES and a major entrance scholarship, student must decline the lower-value award. Recipients who subsequently receive a Tri-agency scholarship have GDES adjusted to $5,000/year while holding the external award. Academic unit may add program-specific eligibility criteria.

Requirements

Nomination-based; academic unit recommends outstanding incoming students to the Dean and Associate Provost, Graduate Studies; awarded by Senate Graduate Awards Adjudication Committee (SGAAC); no separate student application
