UBC Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Program

Need- and merit-based program supporting Black Canadian students entering UBC undergraduate programs. Awards up to $20,000/year, renewable for up to 4 years (up to $80,000 total). Designed to reduce financial barriers and empower Black Canadians to access post-secondary education at UBC.

Must self-identify as Black (African, African-American, African-Canadian, or Afro-Caribbean). Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person. Entering directly from high school or transferring from another post-secondary institution into a direct-entry undergraduate program (no previous degree). Strong academic standing meeting UBC admissions requirements. Demonstrated financial need. Award consideration limited to first-choice campus and degree only.

Apply to UBC by December 8, then complete the UBC Entrance Award Application and select the Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Award. Required documents: (1) Student Application Form, (2) Description of Circumstance (max 1,000 words) covering personal/family/financial situation, community involvement, and anticipated impact, (3) Parent/Guardian Form (if attended high school within past 48 months), (4) Reference Form from someone knowledgeable about character, UBC interest, and financial circumstances. Only successful applicants are contacted (majority by May 15).
