Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information ScholarLog collects, how we use it, and how we protect it. ScholarLog is operated in Canada and complies with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. What We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

Your name and email address
Your password (stored as an encrypted hash — we never see your actual password)
Your account type (student, parent, or teacher)
Profile information you choose to provide: school, program of study, GPA, province, and other eligibility details used to match you with scholarships

We also collect basic usage data (pages visited, features used) to improve the platform. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Match you with scholarships you may be eligible for
Send you deadline reminders and scholarship tips, if you opted in
Maintain and improve the ScholarLog platform
Respond to support requests

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Who Can See Your Information

Your profile information is used only to power your scholarship matching. It is not visible to other users, scholarship providers, or the public. Only ScholarLog staff with a legitimate need can access your account data.

4. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider with servers in Canada and the United States. Supabase maintains industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest and in transit.

5. Email Communications

If you opted in at signup, we may send you scholarship deadline alerts and occasional tips. You can opt out at any time by updating your account settings or emailing us at hello@scholarlog.ca.

6. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Request deletion of your account and data
Withdraw consent for data use (note: this may limit your ability to use ScholarLog)

7. Cookies

ScholarLog uses a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make meaningful changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by email or through the platform before the changes take effect.
